  • Match the search results: - [Instructor] Facebook is a perfect place to let your audience know about an event that you're running for your business. This could be an open house, a sale, a concert, or a book signing. And they could be either in person or online. Events are a unique type of Facebook post and they're highly, highly recommended. They act the same as a regular post with a commenting, liking and sharing abilities, but they'll also allow you to invite people to them and those people will be able to RSVP or express interest on Facebook. Let's walk through creating a Facebook event and how they work. You'll first notice that I'm on the Landon Hotel page and I'm in the events section. That's right next to the Home Feed in the middle area of the page. Here, you can see all the events that have either taken place or are upcoming. We can see the upcoming event for Afternoon Tea in the Garden for the month of July. In order to create an event, you simply select the Create Event button. From here, you'll pop into a separate dialog box, and this is where you'll enter all your events details. Now I'm going to go back to a previous event that I've created and we can take a closer look there. If I select Edit Event, that'll take me into the event editor. And it's here you can see all the different pieces of information that an event requires. First, we have the event, photo or video. Here you can see that we've used a T setup, which is very indicative of what our event is about. You want to make sure that your photo or video conveys what your event is about without adding too much text or complicated imagery. Below that is the event name. So we very clearly have called it Afternoon Tea in the Garden for July. Below that if it's an online event, this is where you can choose that. Otherwise you're going to specify a location and here we have it happening at the London hotel. Next is a description. So here I say, come join us for the monthly special afternoon tea in the garden at the Landon Hotel. Below that I have a category as drinks. And then I have a start and end date. Underneath that is a really neat feature where you can add co-hosts. So these co-hosts will have editing privileges and can add the event to their own pages event calendar. So it's great for co-marketing and it's great if you're having someone teach a class that you're putting on, they can market to their audience as well. Below that is any specific details. You can add a schedule and you can add keywords so people can find your event a little bit easier. Next is the admission option. So you can add a confirmation where you ask your guests to reserve their spot and then provide additional details to confirm their attendance. If you choose that you're able to set a limited number of spots and the max spots per person. And the below, that is where you can customize it. And you can add some custom questions from your guests. Things like if they have any food allergies or if they're bringing a plus one. Below that you can enable Messenger. So that way you can allow your guests to message your page about their reservation to the event and I highly recommend that checked off. Below that is how you create your tickets so you can create free or paid tickets directly on Facebook. And you'll do that through Eventbrite. Eventbrite is a really well known event ticketing platform. So they've partnered with Eventbrite to make it really easy to create tickets to your events. And it might be an idea if you put on a lot of events, especially if they're paid to integrate with Eventbrite, and that might help consolidate all your efforts. Below that is Add a Ticket Link. So this is something as simple as say you have a sign up form off of your website. You could just add the ticket URL that way. It doesn't need to be all polished or shiny through Eventbrite, it could be something as simple as a contact form on your website and people fill it out. Underneath that you can change and alter who posts in your event. I love keeping post permissions as open as possible because you want to create a conversation and engagement around your content. You can also change it so that all posts must be approved by a host or cohost first, before becoming posted on the event. And below that you can allow people to ask questions about your event on Messenger. The last option is a Guest List, and I love displaying a Guest List. This provides social proof. I might see a friend of mine going to a specific event and it might make me a little bit more interested in it. So I always display it. But if you're having more of a private event, you can easily uncheck that and keep your guest list private. I'm going to exit out of that and we're going to go into a different format of how the event looks. So this is how the event invite looks to a visitor. So here they can see really clearly the date, the name of the event, and it's here that they can mark whether they're interested or going. And that means that you're going to be able to see who's RSVPed as well as the person who has expressed interest, that'll show up in their newsfeed and be sent out to their own networks. That's a really powerful tool to help with brands awareness. If there is a discussion happening that would occur in the Discussion tab and it's here that people could post any questions they have about the event, they could answer any questions if you're polling people prior to it. So it's a great opportunity to create some buzz and some discussion. Now heading up to the main menu, just underneath the Boost Post Event button. The arrow helps you share your event. So you can share your event as a post, you can send it in messenger, as well as share it to a page. So in this example, Dalia, who's the owner of the Landon Hotel could easily share the post on her personal profile, she could send it in Messenger to some people she knows would be interested in it as well as she can share it to the Landon Hotel page itself. The three dots icon to the right of that allows you some additional options. It's here that you can save the event. You can duplicate it if you're going to create another one. So in this example, the Afternoon Tea in the Garden for August, I would simply duplicate that event and then tweak the dates. I can cancel it, or I can export the event details. Events work really well to engage your community as well as Facebook really seems to weight the importance of these meaning that they'll show up often and they're always suggesting events. I find any events that I create on Facebook to show up many more times than just a regular post. Now that you know how events on pages work, how might you be able to leverage them in your own business and create them on your own page? ...
